Family Recipe Friday - It's a Southern Thing

It must be a southern thing!

Growing up as a child, Mama made these delicious sandwiches ofr my sister and I. Long before we knew that the "King" was also eating these delicacies, we endured laughter and teasing of our friends who didn't quite understand our hankering for this delish snack or meal.

Yep, you remember the "King"? Elvis "Southern to the Bone" Presley!

It was rumored that Elvis loved peanut butter and banana sandwiches.

Now I've seen this made several ways, but the way I have always loved it best, was the way Mama made it.

Heavy on the peanut butter. Banana sliced length-wise [not cut into round disks as so many are seen to do! They tend to lose some of their banana this way!] Cut length-wise the banana is insured to stay between the bread, firmly seated in the sticky peanut butter where it belongs.

The bread is your preference.... be it plain white or multi-grain. Right out of the wrapper, or lightly toasted! Either is fine.

To really send it over the top???

Spread one slice of bread with peanut butter, and the other with mayonnaise! But then, that is a personal preference, and I don't know if the "King" ever ate them that way or not.

Go ahead.... you know you want to try one!!!
